Your air conditioner has gotten quite the workout, and as such if you have any repair needs, now is the time to take care of them. After all, the last thing you need is a sudden breakdown when you still need the system, or even worse—a broken down air conditioner when you go to use it the first time next summer.

The good news is, most AC repair needs give out symptoms well before they cause your system to breakdown. And while you shouldn’t try to formally diagnose or repair a faulty air conditioner on your own (they contain dangerous components like refrigerant that requires formal training and licensing to handle properly), you can still do your part in spotting the signs that you are indeed in need of AC repairs, and give us a call from there. Without further ado, here are some of those signs:

Low Airflow

Air that isn’t moving through the vents with the speed you’d expect can be a big problem, understandably. It usually indicates that cold air is trapped in the system, which can cause your coils to freeze and create subsequent problems from there. Even if this doesn’t happen, the reduced airflow is a problem in itself as it causes your air conditioner to work harder than it has to.

Reduced Cooling Levels

There are a number of possible reasons this might occur, from a refrigerant leak, overheating components, and even breaches in the ductwork. These can all reduce your air conditioners ability to work as efficiently as it should.

This is a problem for the same reason low airflow is a problem—you’ll likely turn down your thermostat, thinking that is the problem, and your compressor will run longer to try to compensate. In other words, you’ll cause your AC to work harder than it has to!

Short-Cycling

Short-cycling is the process in which an AC system turns on and off numerous times throughout the day without running very long in the meantime. Air conditioners use more energy turning on and shutting off than they do simply running, which is why you want yours to run for at least 15 minutes at a time. Otherwise, it’s typically a sign that something is wrong.

Odd Noises

An odd noise can be anything from humming or moaning to buzzing or clanging. Pretty much, anything that doesn’t match the normal sounds your system makes when it runs is cause for concern. These sounds may typically start and stop in time with the starting and stopping of your air conditioner.

Higher Energy Bills

Sometimes, a problem with an AC system won’t show any overt signs, however, can be translated into excess energy being consumed. In these cases, you’ll likely notice the problem by spotting an unexpected spike in your monthly cooling bills, particularly if you haven’t been running your air conditioner any more often than normal.

At Covenant Heating and Cooling, we are “Dedicated to the Promise of Serving You.” Contact us today for trustworthy air conditioning repair in Goodlettsville, TN.

The good news is, most AC repair needs give out symptoms well before they cause your system to breakdown.

[70
112,107
post-786","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-air-conditioning-service","tag-air-conditioning-repair","tag-goodlettsville
["GET
